Do I need a passport?
Yes, you will need a passport. You will also need to make sure it is current and has not expired. In addition, your passport needs to be valid for at least six months from the time of our departure/trip. A country may deny entrance even if the passport is current and up to date.
Can I pay for my trip via credit card?
Yes, you may utilize our payment options on our website.
Do I have to fly with the team?
We highly recommend it. If you choose not to, you are responsible for booking your airfare and making sure you arrive at the reported times set by the Team Coordinator.
Do I need to resubmit my personal application form if I have participated in the past?
If you have participated in a mission trip with BMI within the last two years and the information on your personal application form has not changed, there is no need for it to be resubmitted.
What should I wear?
CLINIC HOURS: Please wear scrubs and wear closed covered shoes/sneakers. Scrub tops with regular pants is also acceptable. Shorts or skirts are not acceptable at clinic.
PERSONAL TIME: Clothing appropriate and respectful to the area we are serving. Outfits for any activities you wish to partake in on your time off. If there is a need for more than casual wear, your team coordinator will inform you prior to your trip.
Who can participate?
- Medical personnel with appropriate medical credentials
- Medical and lay volunteers ages 16 through 84 at the time of the mission
- Medical and lay volunteers ages 85-89 at the time of the mission with a medical letter stating good health to manage this mission
- Participants between the ages of 16-18 must be accompanied by a responsible team member who can assume legal responsibility for the minor
Can I bring my kid(s)?
Yes, if the participant(s) is/are between the ages of 16-18 and there is space available on the team. They must also be accompanied by a responsible team member who can assume legal responsibility for the minor.
Wow! Fiji! Can I go earlier or stay later to make it a vacation?
For those arriving to Fiji prior to or staying on after the mission dates, you will be responsible for your own hotel accommodations and taxi services for those additional dates.
Do I need medical travel insurance?
As for medical travel insurance, it is not mandatory but something we encourage everyone to look into. You never know when you might have an emergency.

Do I need to bring an adapter?
For Fiji, yes, you will need an adapter.
For Belize, you will need an adapter if your plug has 3 prongs.
We recommend also bringing a multi-outlet surge protector power strip/extension cord.
Is my trip a tax deduction?
We are a 501c3 nonprofit, however, please consult your accountant.
